Draw both! Not either/or. Be creative, but remember your drawings have to be reasonably accurate too! Read the stories carefully to find details and clues.
“Gaston” Drawing
Digitally or on paper, create a drawing of the flawed peach at the point of the line “Show me” on page 2 (and not past that point because the father started eating the peach right after).
What did the peach look like at that point? The skin, the flesh, the seed, etc? Draw and label these parts.
Also, draw Gaston and where he was.
“Hills Like White Elephants” Drawing
Digitally or on paper, draw the layout of the train station (hint: the platform is between two tracks, with the bar/restaurant on the platform).
Draw and label the surrounding areas that paralleled the two train tracks (important: check the narrator’s descriptions throughout the entire story to get this right).
Draw the man and the girl and where they were sitting and facing at the beginning of the story.
Using the narrator’s descriptions, “map” out where the two characters walked to as the story progresses.
Keep track of their luggage. Where was luggage at the start and where did it end up? What was the man’s route at the end?
Take a photo of your drawings if they on paper. Upload as .jpg, jpeg, .png, .bmp, .gif, or .pdf.
