This week you will present the Literature Review section of your proposal. Each week you have been adding to your growing body of evidence to support your problem and proposed innovation to address the problem.
The review of literature is a critical, analytical summary and synthesis of the current knowledge of your research topic. Thus it should compare and relate different theories, findings, etc., rather than just summarize them individually.
While the problem has been presented in early submissions and was to be briefly presented here, this assignment was to present what interventions are being used to address the problem (current knowledge about the research topic) and the gap found in the literature that your new intervention seeks to address.
This paper was not about the theoretical framework guiding the research project.
As noted with the first submission of this assignment:
Michelle, the prevalence of alcohol consumption in adolescents, is the problem or topic of concern. The literature review was to provide evidence to identify the problem, review the current interventions addressing the problem, and provide a new innovative intervention to be examined with a quantitative study design supported by evidence.
Prevalence of Alcohol Consumption in Adolescents This would not be the title for the research project. The problem has been presented in earlier work.

APA does not permit use of the word “Introduction” as a level heading. The first part of a manuscript is assumed to be the introduction. The first paragraph should include the objectives of the paper.
This a literature review on the factors that influence the prevalence of alcohol consumption in adolescents.?
Determining the alcohol drinking behaviour early in adolescents is essential for vital interventions in reducing the prevalence of drinking alcohol. You are not determining adolescent drinking behavior in this proposal.. This evidence comes from the literature.Adolescence is a time with a lot of change in life as it involves many changes physically and psychologically, which exposes them to risky behaviour such as alcohol consumption. SOURCE needed! In developed countries, it has been illustrated as the most significant risk to health. SOURCE needed! There has been evidence from research that indicates that interventions that are based on theories are more effective than others.? Provide these studies. Evidence is needed. The first part of a paper is assumed to be the introduction and includes the objectives of the paper. The problem needs to be briefly identified, supported with evidence.
It is unclear why theories are the focus.
There are articles of literature ? that have utilized theories to explain the cause of the prevalence of alcohol in adolescents. ? A study was done to analyse the correlation between the idea of planned behaviour variables.? Sentence fragmentIntentions to consume alcohol and the consumption of alcohol (Cooke et al., 2016 It is unclear how this relates to the assignment. The study reviewed 40 pieces of literature and was analysed according to gender, age, and pattern of participants. ? Was the literature reviewed current? The study’s results indicated that intentions were strongly related to attitude, subjective norms, and finally, perception of behavioural control. This was a systematic review. The results are from the published research. The study illustrated that intention was positively related to alcohol consumption while perceived behavioural control was negatively correlated. The study’s conclusion indicated that females had a more substantial attitude intention relation than males, which was valid for adults compared with adolescents. Unclear sentence meaning.?
From the article: As none of the studies with adolescent samples collected behavioural data, it was not possible to test moderation of TPB relationships with behaviour by age of participants.
From the article: Previous research (Gibbons & Gerrard, 1995; Kuther, 2002) has argued that the TPB is not suitable for use with younger populations because adolescents are less likely to plan alcohol consumption compared to adults, not least because alcohol consumption is harder for adolescents because it is usually illegal for them to purchase it. The present review found some support for the idea that the TPB has greater utility when applied to adults’ alcohol intentions than adolescents’ alcohol intentions. For example, adults’ attitudes and SE had large correlations with their intentions, whereas adolescents’ attitudes and SE had medium and small, respectively, correlations with intentions. One potential confound in this analysis is that four of the five adolescent samples focused on not drinking (e.g., Rise & Wilhelmsen, 1998), whereas only one of the adult samples focused on not drinking (i.e., Ajzen & Sheikh, 2013). Therefore, it may be that results for the two groups differ due to the pattern of consumption. As there were only five adolescent data sets, these results should be interpreted with caution. Future research is needed that focuses on both drinking and not drinking in adults and adolescents.
. This study ?focused on reviewing the effectiveness of computer-based interventions to reduce the habit of consuming alcohol in teenagers? Subjects were aged 12-21. (Tebb et al., 2016). The primary goal of this study is to conduct a review of how theory is integrated into CBIs that target alcohol use among adolescents and young adults Studies wre from 1999 to 2014. .. The report illustrated that the papers presenting the computer-based interventions used more than one theoretical framework. The theories mainly were social cognitive theory, transtheoretical model, planned behaviour and reasoned action, and health belief model. The study illustrated the importance of the approach in the interventions in the prevalence of alcohol in adolescents. It is unclear how the interventions affected prevalence. The study demonstrated that the framework derived from the theories helps form computer-based interventions to address alcohol consumption in adolescents. It is unclear how this relates to your literature review and proposal.
Researchers sought to examine if repeated exposure to alcohol advertising changed students’ perceptions and norms of the typical person (alcohol prototype) who drinks alcohol in different ethnic groups. Consumption was not a variable. According to a research article examining the effects of adolescents’ exposure to advertising affect their belief on alcohol consumption, which leads to the prevalence of alcohol in adolescents Consumption was not measured. (Martino, Where are the other authors? When a work has 2 authors, cite both authors every time. If a source has 3 or more authors, list the first author followed by et al. 2016). The report was based on social learning and decision-making theories to explain how adolescents’ exposure to alcoholic advertisements shifted their perception about drinking, which eventually led to alcohol consumption. Where is this supported? The article illustrated that the adolescents viewed the agemates who consumed alcohol favourably and perceived the use of alcohol more normatively when exposed to advertising than when not. The report explained that the exposure to advertisements changed drastically the perceptions of adolescents to consume alcohol. The study found a lack of association between exposure and outcome expectancies. Adolescent perceptions of consumption were not measured.
These articles illustrate the influence of adolescents’ exposure to factors in the environment that influence the habit of the consumption of alcohol. The reports have demonstrated the importance of theory in the explanation of the prevalence of consumption of alcohol in adolescents. The main argument in these articles is that what adolescents are exposed to influences most of the drink. Theories used in the reports, such as the theory of planned behaviour, explain the role of interventions focused on behaviour to address alcohol consumption in adolescents. This study’s limitations are that alcohol consumption is not viewed in the long term to examine the eventual consequences. There is a need for the researchers to use the theory of planned behaviour on the non-alcohol-consuming population to establish a base model. Insert page break here.
