Lesson 1 Element 1: Justification/Alignment:
This part of the lesson, will not align with the standards. This is the introduction that will give the students an overview of what is expected of them to learn. They will be able to see a video that will walk them through the work, and fill out their vocabulary cards, so that they are familiar with the terms used within the lesson.
Lesson 1 Element 2: Justification/Alignment:
This part of the lesson will align with objectives number 1,2, and 3, as well as the standards that are listed within the objectives. This is due to the students learning how to read the story problem, create the equation needed, use a model to explain their reasoning, as well as be able to find the variable within the equation. Students will work in pairs or individually to show competency of the work given.
This specific part of the lesson students will find the unknown variable but are still learning how to create the equation along with modeling and solving
Lesson 1 Element 3: Justification:
This part of the lesson will align with objectives number 1,2, and 3, as well as the standards that are listed within the objective areas. Students are learning the same material, just in a different format. They are looking for the variable, by finding the unknown group size. Students will continue to learn all of the content in part 1 of this lesson, just in a different view. They will continue to learn how to read the story problem, create the equation needed, use a model to explain their reasoning, as well as be able to find the variable within the equation. Students will work in pairs or individually to show competency of the work given
Lesson 1 Element 4: Justification:
This part of the lesson will align with objectives number 1,2, and 3, as well as the standards listed within the objectives. This again, is a repetitive lesson, whereas the student will learn the same material, just using it in different ways. Because of the repetitive of the lesson the student will continue to learn how to read the story problem, create the equation needed, use a model to explain their reasoning, as well as be able to find the variable within the equation. Students will work in pairs or individually to show competency of the work given.
This specific part of the lesson students will work equation problems that they are looking for the unknown number of groups, by finding the unknown variable, still learning how to create the equation, along with modeling the equation and then solving it.
Lesson 1 Element 5: Justification:
This optional help session aligns with all objectives and standards listed. This is a review of the information, as well as an assignment to allow those students who are struggling to get extra help to learn the material at a greater knowledge than just the lesson itself
Lesson 1 Element 6: Justification:
This will align with all objectives and standards that the students have been learning. This assessment will allow the students to show how proficient the student has become within the objectives and standards taught.
Lesson 1 Element 7: Justification:
There is no direct alignment with the standards and objectives taught. This particular element is the student’s opinion of how they feel of the assignment. There is no teaching from the teacher at this point.
Lesson 2 Element 1: Justification:
This section may not necessarily be aligned with the standards since it is the introduction that will help students review the objectives of the previous lesson. It also states what is expected of the leaners in this lesson.
Lesson 2 Element 2: Justification:
The specific standards aligned to this lesson element are 6.W.2a. This reading standard states that a grade 6 student must demonstrate understanding or word relationships. They must be able to use the relationship between particular words such as cause/effect. The other standard is 6.W.2b. This writing standard states that a student should be able to use words, phrases, and clauses to explain the relationships between claim(s) and reasons
Lesson 2 Element 3: Justification:
This part of the module relies on three standards 6.RL.1 , 6.W.2a, and 6.W2b. As such, this section of the class lesson is aligned to the Oregon common core state language standards. The stated standards cover aspects of citing evidence and use of appropriate formatting, graphics, & multimedia. Further, the standards address use of technology to create and publish writing while linking facts and evidence to credible sources.
Lesson 2 Element 4: Justification/Alignment:
This part will not align with the standards, as it is only for review of what is expected of the students. The homework assigned during this lesson is the creation of a newspaper article discussed in Lesson Element 3.Nonetheless, this section is critical since it serves as an evaluation of the lesson ensuring that students digest what they have just learned today.
