Hello Everyone, You have the option of reading or interpreting the linked

Hello Everyone,

You have the option of reading or interpreting the linked primary documents/historical illustrations or brief video/clips.

The critical reactions will cover each Learning Unit with the fourth critical reaction covering the last two learning units in the semester – thus:

You will need to read either one document (of length – six or more pages)

Or two documents (of brevity – five or less pages)

Or pick two historical illustrations or brief video/clips to write your critical reaction over.

Your reaction must be AT LEAST one full-length, single-spaced page in no larger than 12-pitch Arial or Times New Roman font with no more than one-inch margins all around. Place only your name and the titles of the documents or illustrations/videos you are discussing in the upper left hand corner as your header.

The due dates are listed within the schedule page.

Once a due date has passed, the documents and illustrations/videos assigned for that learning are no longer viable to write a reaction over. Thus, you cannot write a reaction over documents and illustrations/videos assigned to one learning unit critical reaction one and turn it in on before another Critical Reaction due date.

This applies to the other documents/illustrations/videos and learning units/critical reactions and their due dates as well. If you have any questions, just email me within the message center of blackboard.

Critical Reaction Responses:

You are required to write four total critical reaction responses/papers based off of your primary document readings or historical illustration/video critical interpretation.

Each reaction should be AT LEAST one full-length, single-spaced page in no larger than 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font with no more than one-inch margins all around. Point deductions will be taken for any variations from formatting requirements. Reactions must be submitted in .docx, .rtf, or .odt formats.

You will submit your reactions within the Critical Reaction area of the course.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY EMAIL ATTACHMENT TO ME VIA MY MCC EMAIL ACCOUNT.

Your header should include singled spaced your name and the documents/illustrations that you are writing your reaction over.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE HEADER EXAMPLE BELOW

Name: Jordan Grant

Document /Illustration 1: Pilgrimage to Mecca

Document/Illustration 2: I Am Now Free

The reaction response should consist of:

The document(s) or illustration you have chosen to write your reaction over.
(provide the title and URL of each document)

Your critical interpretation/opinion of the rhetoric/illustration you are reading, writing and interpreting. You can write on any cross section of the document(s) and illustrations in the learning units. You can write over one document of length (6 or more pages) or two documents (5 or less pages). If you choose to write over the historical illustrations, you will need to pick two.

This is not an assignment of regurgitation, but rather you thinking about the relevance of the rhetoric and propaganda expressed within the documents and illustrations and how it is or is not significant to history.

All responses must be typed and formatted to the requested specifications. Any response that goes under the allotted page length will receive a 5 point deduction in grade.

Each response is worth a possible 25 points.

Structure and Content of the responses should consist of the following:

1. Thesis Statement: One to three sentences characterizing the topic of the response and possible conclusion.

2. Exposition: Explain what your argument/focus will be in this response. This body of the response must be your thoughts and critical ideas. Do not just convolute this part of the response with numerous quotes and paraphrasing.

3. Analysis: Make sure to critically scrutinize from a negative or positive standpoint in the rhetoric/propaganda in the documents and illustrations you are reading and interpreting.

The goal of this assignment is to have you think critically about the primary documents and historical illustrations you are reading and interpreting.

Thus, you will need to engage the reading and illustration, possibly take notes over the documents and historical illustrations. Do not simply read for the sake of reading, but gain some applicable knowledge along the way.

This response is opinion based and I want to see your critical voice and depth throughout the paper. PLEASE DO NOT SIMPLY RESTATE WHAT THE DOCUMENTS HAVE SAID, BUT RATHER HAVE SOME PROVOCATIVE INSIGHT ON WHAT YOU ARE READING. You can write in first person.

If you need any further explanation, do not hesitate to call me during my office hours or message me in the course. You can find my office number in Instructor Information.
