To be a good leader one must have vision and perseverance (Doten-Snitker et al., 2021). Vision in a leader is essential to facilitating change in the work field because it allows for goals to be created and met (Haque et al., 2016). When a leader has vision and shares that passion with the people around them than passion and drive develop. One vision that I have helped aid in is the strengthening of our trauma protocols in the ICU unit I currently work at. We discovered that things were not going as smooth as possible and communicated with not only the ER staff but with the physicians to implement several changes to improve the time that a trauma patient comes through our door to the CT machine and then into the ICU or operating room. This vision allowed several staff members to become passionate about implementing new procedures and protocols. Now we have stronger communication with the ER staff and physicians and land and address trauma patients way quicker than before.
