One of the most significant issues emerging today are improving access to quality health care. Quality in healthcare provides the care a patient needs in an affordable, safe and effective manner. According to Bhatt et al. (2018), without access to quality health care, people are at an increased risk for higher costs of care, being underinsured or uninsured, experience a decrease in the services available to them. Lack of culturally competent care ensures that every individual has health insurance as it aides patients with gaining access to the healthcare system. Moreover, not having healthcare insurance limits an individual’s ability to receive the care that is needed when necessary. Leading to a later diagnosis of heart diseases and sudden death. For example, many uninsured individuals decide to forgo healthcare coverage simply because it is costly or the individual cannot afford to pay straight out of pocket.
Finally, hospitals and other health care organizations must build and maintain strong linkages with a diverse group of community stakeholders to ensure that the needs of vulnerable communities are supported in the future. Collaboration through community health assessments and other strategic endeavors will be vital as a foundation for identifying health priorities and aligning efforts to address them (Commonwealth Fund 2019).
