“Summerhill is possibly the happiest school in the world” (A. S. Neill). What form does education take in A. S Neill’s Summerhill School?
Why can’t people agree on the purpose of education?
Can technology replace teachers?
How can schools and teachers help to reduce social inequalities in educational attainment?
Why might it be important that educators, in any setting, teach children and young people about, through and for human rights? And, how might they go about this?
Does education policy seek to control or guide teachers?
Educators ought to base their practice on evidence from peer reviewed research papers rather than on their own fanciful notions. Discuss!

This is a 20-credit module. Please refer to the five full criteria provided below. The pass mark is 40%. The essay should have:
An introduction identifying the topic and purpose of the essay.
An analysis of the topic, critically comparing and contrasting the advantages and limitations of differing perspectives.
A discussion of the key themes drawn from the analysis and supported by key academic literature; i.e., scholarly publications such as books and peer reviewed articles written by researchers and experts.
An appropriate conclusion which states your position, drawing on the arguments presented.
A well-written narrative in which ideas flow clearly and coherently, with appropriate use of paragraphs and transitions to get your points across. It should make proper use of academic sources to support the arguments and provide evidence of engagement with specialised literature. Careful attention should be paid to spelling, punctuation, grammar and in-text citation of literature, and an accurate reference list provided of texts cited. The essay should use APA 7th edition for references.
