Part 1.
With reference to CORU proficiency students are required to demonstrate their understanding of what a professional duty of care in social care practice means.
Part 2.
Students can choose one of the following case examples and then plan a relevant intervention based on the specific service user group chosen.
- A day service for adults with a mild to moderate intellectual disability.
- A children’s residential home for three young people aged between 16 – and 18 years.
- A residential home for five adults with a mild to moderate intellectual disability.
- A family hub for homeless families.
- A community-based day service for adults with addiction.
With reference to CORU proficiencies 1.9 and 3.8, students are required to select a sample placement setting from the list above and plan an intervention based on the identified needs of a service user(s) (or staff member/s) from the selected placement setting. This intervention plan should focus on an aspect of service users(or staff members) health, safety, welfare, equality, or dignity.
Part 3.
With reference to CORU proficiency 3.8, students should discuss the importance of revising intervention plans and identify the circumstances when and how an intervention may need to be revised. Students should also discuss the importance of evaluating intervention plans and how service users should be incorporated into the evaluation of interventions.
