FINAL PROJECT: A CREATIVE SELFIE!
This assignment is designed to give you an opportunity to put
all your new Photoshop skills to work in building a fle where you
make the creative decisions. and build the fle independently.
The idea is to use Photoshop to create a fantasy selfe! Starting
out with a simple portrait you’ll ceate a collage that combines
additional image elements with type and a decorative frame.
You can do whatever you want with this assignment, but be aware
that the fnal fles are due at the end of the week; use your time
accordingly! Let’s get started!

When you’ve assembled your fnal fle, review this list to be sure
that you have met each of the following requirements:
£ File specs. 900 x 600 pixels at 72ppi.
£ Imagery. Combine your central image with at least 2 other
images. These extras can be objects, textures or any graphic
embellishment you can dream up.
£ Type. Use a type layer someplace in your fle.
£ Frame. Create a simple frame to contain your portrait.
£ Layer Management. All layers should be named and
organized into Layer Groups.

these fles into a single enclosing folder.

BUILDING THE FILE
Brainstorm. You will always be more efcient on the computer
if you have a clear idea of what you want to create before you
open the software. Take a few moments to plan out your fle;
create a simple outline or sketch and use that as you assemble
the elements in Photoshop.
Build a working fle. Create a new document that is 900 x 600
pixels. Make sure your fle is in the RGB color space initially.
Create your collage. Add the central image; copy and paste
the other images into the working fle.
Add type. There must be one live type layer in your fnal PSD
fle. You can set your name in your favorite typeface or use type
as a textural element.
Create a frame. As a fnal step, create a simple frame to contain
your collage. You can create a frame from scratch in Photoshop,
or fnd a separate image to use.
HELPFUL TIPS
Save your document frequently as you work.
Push the limit! Many of you have worked in Photoshop before;
feel free to go beyond the basic project requirements.

FINAL STEPS
Review your work. Look your fle over and review the
production work in it. Are the selections clean? Do the
elements all work together? Have you satisfed all the project
requirements?
Layer Management. Every layer in your fle should have a
descriptive name. When your fle is complete, place all the
layers into one or more Layer Groups.
Turn in your fnal fles. You will turn in three separate fles for this
project:
• Layered RGB PSD fle [Lastname_PSfnal.psd]
• Flat RGB JPEG fle [Lastname_PSfnal.jpg]
• Flat CMYK TIFF fle [Lastname_PSfnal.tif Resample this fle
to be 300ppi].
Place each of these fles into one folder named: Lastname_
Firstname_PSfnal, then archive and backup the folder to your
thumbdrive or online storage account. You will need these fles
at the end of the semester so be sure to keep them handy!
FINISH UP AND SUBMIT
£ Submit the folder to your instructor via Canvas. Hope you
enjoyed this project!
