The idea that women were the original source of evil in the world is something that ancient Greeks and Christians have in common. Take a closer look at the myth of Pandora and the story of Eve in the Garden of Eden, exploring the narratives as they appear in our textbook, the Bible, and other representations in art and literature. Write an essay comparing and contrasting Pandora and Eve as archetypes of the first woman while arguing what you think these stories say about cultural beliefs regarding the nature of evil, the nature of women, and the status of procreation as either a good or an evil in nature.
When you are researching your topic, look for sources that are scholarly/academic in nature. You may also additional primary texts in your essay, including retellings, alternative translations, and artistic representations of the myths you are discussing.
The additional sources you incorporate should be scholarly, peer-reviewed sources that you find in the library database. Encyclopedias, dictionaries, study guides, sample essays, etc. are not appropriate sources for college-level work and should not be used.
