Identify a state or federal P-20 policy and study it from inception to implementation at all levels. Trace the development of the policy and provide insight into political influences and P-20 constituents that may have impacted the policy or may have been impacted by the policy. Provide an intensive analysis and critique of the implementation of the policy and share strategies that may improve the policy implementation process for local districts. The overarching principle should be to review the policy/law through the lens of a P-20 leader. As part of the submission, a clear connection should be established between the subject of the paper and the student learning outcomes (SLOs) of the EdD program.
Examples of policies/laws could include: College/Career readiness, Dual credit, Common core, Elementary and Secondary Education Act Reauthorization (Every Student Succeeds Act), Tennessee Promise, Work Ready Communities, Perkins, etc.
Papers should be 10-12 pages long. Formatting should adhere to APA style, 7th ed. The submission must include a title page, abstract, table of contents, references and appendices as needed (these pages are not counted toward the total page count). The scoring rubric is included below (I suggest you review that so that you can make sure you include all the required components).
A brief (5 minutes), narrated presentation will be prepared that highlights/discusses the study. An executive summary (1 single-spaced page) should also be prepared
