Watch the movie 10 Things I Hate About You (directed by Gil Junger and released in 1999) and write a 1-2 page paper that includes the following:
An introduction giving a brief (1-2 sentence) summary of the movie
An explanation of three psychological concepts we discussed in Unit 4 that appear in the movie. For each psychological concept, you must provide a brief (1-2 sentence) explanation of the concept, and a brief explanation of how/where it appears in the movie
For example, if you were to argue that the concept of Social Roles appears in the movie, you might write a paragraph like this:
Social Roles are patterns of behavior that are expected from a person in a particular situation. These roles influence behavior in a number of ways, and people can act very differently depending on the role that they are inhabiting. In the movie, we see Patrick inhabiting many different social roles that change his behavior. When he talks to his peers at the beginning of the movie, he is stand-offish and rude—in this situation he is inhabiting the role of a “troublemaker.” However, when he is attempting to get Kat to go out with him, he is kind and caring. The way that Patrick behaves in these two different situations is likely heavily influenced by the role he was playing.
