Book:”The Cold War: A Global History with Documents”. Read chapter 2 and p277-281: Yalta and Potsdam Conference: p277-281 (treat them as separate events). Please fill the attached Conference System Notes template. This session will lead attendees on a historical journey of diplomatic, political, and economic realities that motivated allied leaders to engage in the series of high-profile war conferences (Atlantic Charter, Casablanca, Teheran, Yalta, and Potsdam) and how those key meetings produced long term, globalizing efforts, the effects of which are still felt today. While providing samples of stimulating, interactive, and highly visual teaching materials, the session will emphasize the allied goals that both addressed and transcended immediate war aims. In addition, attendees will explore the influence of non-European leaders like China’s Chiang Kai-Shek as well as the seeds of future organizations such as The United Nations, The World Bank (Bretton Woods) and NATO.
