Teaching Experience Template Name of Experience: Watching and Enacting a Video on Good Habits. Resource(s): Smartboard, Projector, YouTube Video: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN36nh-2tuI) Title, resource type and references (include multimedia) Title: Good Habits for Kids Resource Type: Multimedia Resource (Video) A brief description of the resource and its relevance In this experience, the pupil teacher is going to use a YouTube video based on good habits. The students will watch the video and the pupil teacher will ask them questions related to what they see in this video. Pupil teacher will ask the children if they have these good habits. The students will be encouraged to inculcate these habits in their routine life (YouTube [EducationalVideos], 2021). Rationale As per the Multiple Intelligences Theory, given by Howard Gardner, it has been discovered by the scholars that a human being does not have a single factor of intelligence but there are 8 types of intelligences present in a human being including-Visual-Spatial: Who have good interpretation of visual objects like bars, graphs, images, paintings and others.Linguistic-Verbal: Who have good interpretation of language, written and spoken.Interpersonal: Who have good understanding of others needs, emotions, intentions, desires and motivations.Intrapersonal: People who have clear goals in life as they have an excellent understanding of own strengths, weaknesses and potential. They have good self realisation and self actualisation ability.Logical-Mathematical: As the name suggests, people who have good calculative and mathematical ability.Musical: People who have good understanding of the music. They learn better with musical teaching aids like poems, rhymes and others.Bodily-Kinesthetic: People with good bodily control. These are people who can be good dancers, gym trainers and others.Naturalistic: People with good understanding and inclination towards the nature. For example, garnderners, farmers, conversationists and others (Shearer, 2018). In this way, a teacher must identify that every individual is unique in himself and the learning experience provided by him to a learner must be full of multimedia resources which can click the right type of intelligence, in every child (Abdulrahaman et al., 2020). Therefore, the pupil theacher in this experience has chosed a Video from YouTube which describes Good Habits to children. With the help of this video, all the 8 types of intelligences in a child can triggered. Thus, using this resource has dual benefits of catering to every individual’s needs and creating an inclusive teaching-learning envirornment. Age/class group: 4-6 y.o. no. of children: 20 Learning objectives/intentions of this experience 1. Students will be able to acquire and use routine or active vocabulary. 2. Students will be able to demonstrate good habits and discipline in their life. ☐ Language Development ☐ Physical development ☐ Cognitive development ☐ Social development ☐ Emotional developmentExperience process The video will be played first without interruptions. The pupil teacher will then ask the children what they have seen in the video. After a short discussion, the pupil will play the video again in appropriate gaps. After every action showed in the video, the pupil teacher would ask the children to name it and enact it.For every correct answer and demonstration, the student will be rewarded with applause. Best 3 will be given candies. Then, a discussion will be conducted and students will be asked how many of these good habits they follow in their life.EYLF Outcomes (maximum of two): Outcome 3- Children have a strong sense of well-being With the help of this learning experience, it is expected that the children would develop a strong sense of physical and psychological well-being. The students would learn about good habits such as personal hygiene and their responsibilities in the household like maintaining cleanliness at their home, school and other places of their interest. In this way, the resource will enable them to know the benefits of good habits and well-being. Outcome 5- Children are effective communicators This resource will enable the students to become an effective communicators as through this experience they will learn the active vocabulary. With the helpf of the knowledge of routine vocabulary, the students can learn to communicate effectively. Communication also enables a student to connect with others as it helps them express themselves. Thus, through this learning experience, it can be expected (indirectly) that students will develop socially and emotionally (Journey, 2019).EYLF Practice Watching a video on good habits can be seen as a multi-sensory experience with which a student can feel connection as the scenes from household and school, bring a sense of identity and belongingness. This creates a learning environment for children which can positively affect their learning in social and physical contexts. This experience will develop social skills in children as good habits are core social skills required for the social adjustment. In this activity, it has been planned to implement learning through play as the students will see the video and will enact the same. The students will be exposed to a playful environment in which they will be able to enact the good habits in play. This experience can also develop a sense in the student that preschool is a home-like place for them where they can have a sense of community.Assessment- Throughout the concerned time period, the students will be given the task to enact the good habits in play and then in the real life as well. For first 2 days, the follow-up expected by the children will be guided. From the 3rd day, they will be observed without guidance. Students demonstrating good habits even after the observation period, will be motivated with small motivational rewards such as applause, candies and others. It is expected that gradually, students will grow accustomed to good habits when they find positive reinforcement being given for the same. As per the Kohlberg’s Moral Development theory, the children during this time period experiences the stage of Conventional moral development. During this period, they seek for others’ (elders) approval and want to pose themselves as ‘good boy or good girl.’ Thus, inculcation of good habits by means of motivational techniques and a positive verbal feedback such as calling them a good child, can fasten up their learing of good habits. Additionally, children develop good vocabulary (Ma, 2013).
