Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in the workforce development – human resource development field of work and include access to:

An appropriate range of documentation and resources normally used in the workplace;

Organisational strategic and operational plans;

Organisational policies and procedures; and

Business technology.

Instructions

For this assessment, you will need to perform the following tasks. These tasks will need to be completed and submitted in a professional, word processed format. Each numbered task is expected to be a Mid Submission as a minimum.

Tasks 1 (1000 words)

You are required to write a report detailing external labour supply, industrial relations, labour force analysis and forecasting regarding your current workplace or a workplace of your choice. Your report must draw on relevant workplace experience in conjunction with the knowledge base attained throughout this unit.

The task must be 1000 words minimum in length and should take approximately 1 hour to complete. Your report must be presented in a professional, word processed format, ensuring that you include and reflect on the following:

Explain current information about external labour supply relevant to the specific industry or skill requirements of the organisation;

Outline industrial relations relevant to the specific industry; and

Describe labour force analysis and forecasting techniques.

Assessment Method Two – Practical Demonstration

Application suggestions:

This assessment method is designed as a summative assessment method to be issued at the completion of training delivery and due at a date to be determined, by your assessor, after the completion of the training delivery.

For this task, you and your group will need to select a business of your choice for the basis of your role play activity.

You and your group have been asked to manage workforce planning in the business you have selected. You will need to work together to complete the following tasks:

Review and interpret information from a range of internal and external sources to identify:

Current staff turnover and demographics

Labour supply trends factors that may affect workforce supply

Organisation’s workforce requirements objectives and strategies

Develop strategies that will assist you to implement, monitor and review the workforce needs

Review the relevant trends and supply and demand factors that will impact on an organisation’s workforce

Develop a workforce plan that includes relevant research and specific strategies to ensure access to a skilled and diverse workforce

Ensure you read the performance criteria for this unit and provide copies of all the relevant documentation relating to strategies and your workforce plan.

How should I format my assessments?

Your assessments should be typed in a 11 or 12 size font for ease of reading. You must include a footer on each page with the student name, unit code and date. Your assessment needs to be submitted as a hardcopy or electronic copy as requested by your trainer.

How long should my answers be?

The length of your answers will be guided by the description in each assessment, for example the following types of answers are a minimum unless otherwise indicated:

Assessment Method Three – Questions & Answers

Application suggestions:

This assessment method is designed as a summative assessment method to be issued after the completion of the training delivery.

The assessor needs to indicate whether they have conducted the questioning as written questions or as verbal questions by ticking the box below.

The submission must include an Assessment Cover Sheet and the date will be advised by your assessor.
