Descriiption and Purpose
This second short assignment asks you to create a mock character Instagram account based on your analysis of one of the characters in our readings for the Victorian literature module. You therefore could choose among Tennyson’s “Ulysses,” Robert Browning’s “Duke” (speaker of “My Last Duchess”), Laura or Lizzie from Rossetti’s “Goblin Market,” Alice from Alice in Wonderland, Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde from Stevenson’s novella, the speaker of Matthew Arnold’s “Dover Beach,” or one of the characters from The Importance of Being Earnest.
Whichever character you choose, your creation of an account should strive to display important aspects of that character’s personality. What images might this person want to put on display? How does this character want to be seen by the world? What aspects of his or her character might they hide? Your page should also strive to demonstrate that the character is a product of his or her time – the Victorian era. Had social media comparable to Instagram been available when your fictional character lived, how would she or he have used it?
Steps for Completion
-Begin your work early! Consult with me if you have any questions.
-Review Victorian readings, as needed.
-Enter the appropriate character items as though that character had social media available in their time.
-Do remember that you are showing your understanding of the character and their time period in this assignment. Your focus is on analysis, which you will write up in a Word document.
-Follow MLA formatting for your citations and references.
