You have also gathered a variety of information on your existing or future students. Now you will synthesize all this information and reflect on those student-centered activities, approaches, and practices that are most relevant and applicable to your students. Being acquainted with a variety of student-centered activities, approaches, and practices is grand, but it’s not enough. You need to choose and apply this information based on what you know about your students. In this activity, you review a case study and enhance it with additional student-centered activities and technology that you have learned about. Performance Outcomes Candidates create a problem-based student case study where they can apply student centered learning solutions What will you do? Review a student case study in “Case Study by Grades” in the Activity Resources that is within the grade level you plan to teach or create one based on a student in your own class. If you teach multiple grades, select the grade you feel most comfortable with. Your case study should be based on a learner who needs additional intervention, enrichment, or support. Describe ways that you can practically apply the student-centered activities, approaches, and practices you have researched to effectively address this student’s learning needs. Enhance your strategies and activities with a variety of ways for the student to use technology. Present your approaches to the selected student case study using Emaze (or a similar presentation tool such as Prezi, Flipsnack, etc.) to demonstrate how the student’s needs are being fully met. Remember, do a grammatical check of your presentation before submitting the activity and add your name to your original work. The next step is how will you differentiate the student/case study. I do not need or want data for your entire class. You need to choose one student who is struggling and through a student-centered approach how will you support the student? Think about traditional strategies as well as technology.
