Savini’s text is based on this notion of “looking for trouble.” What does she mean by that and what do you think of this strategy for university writing? Determining what is at stake is an important step in the process of writing according to the article. What do you think about this? Do you usually think about this? Why might making it an explicit part of your process change your writing for the better (or if you already do this every time, think about those who do not in your answer).
Stedman lists a number of ways we can “annoy” our readers with our source work. Are you guilty of any of these? How are you going to work on addressing the issue and why is it important?
Let’s think for a minute or two about argument as you will be writing one of your own very soon. What IS argument, as an academic genre? How does it differ from culturally held notions of arguments in the colloquial sense (you know, like the kind you might have with your partner or a friend)?
