Critically analyse the policies that aim to support the participation of personal care workers within the aged care and disability care workforce
The business case for additional personal care staff at a semi-rural aged/disability service (benefits, risks, impact on patient safety/quality)
Identify, assess and justify the benefits the establishment of the position would bring to the unit and/or wider organisation. Support your assertions with national and international literature and relevant case studies
Identify any risks associated with the establishment of the position as well as any notable risks with not establishing the position. Develop and justify mitigation strategies in response to the identified risks.
Explain the HR implications of the new role including changes to organisational structure, reporting lines, task and work re-allocation and relationship to other sections of the organisation.
Consider current performance measures using publicly available data to determine how the establishment of the role may impact organisational performance. Consider quantitative and qualitative performance indicators. Identify impacts on quality and safety.
State the financial implications of the new role including a total cost for the position considering superannuation, leave loading and other entitlements, associated HR costs such as position advertisement and recruitment costs and recurring costs associated with the position such as equipment, travel and position budget if needed. Identify strategies that assure growth in personal care workers participation in the aged care workforce into the future
Provide a recommendation to the appropriate decision makers on the action you recommend they take and how to proceed.
