When finding out what cable service is best for your home the matrix is useful. I believe the most challenging part about the matrix was finding out specifically what each technology does and how it can benefit the brick and mortar business. Filling out the matrix itself was very easy. I wish I gave myself more time to look into each technology so that I was able to find a more effective way of creating a site for the brick-and-mortar business. However, I am happy with the way it turned out.2. Another simple and effective use for a decision matrix in a business/technology situation, is deciding whether to use an IM service like Slack vs Skype for Business. When choosing an IM service, you typically want something that is easy to download, install and manage, an application that is not expensive, has granular permission settings, easy to organize and archive messages, and can integrate with other applications. Using a decision matrix makes it easy to breakdown the basic requirements from the business, and scale them against other solutions. In this particular example, Skype for Business only has the edge of being free with a standard Office 365 package, making Slack the better tool for an organization in this scenario.The most challenging part of applying the matrix to the final project is that many technology solutions met 5 requirements, meaning that they were equally as good in terms of numbers. The trick is figuring out which technology solutions matters the most to the business, so choosing between cloud technology and big data & knowledge management was tricky. Both are very important and checked off a lot of boxes, but which would be more vital to the business. For a change in my project, I would make some of the technology requirements more specific, like adding specifically what type of applications would be in place, cost, etc. This would make it easier to see and choose with technology solution would better suit the business needs.
