Chapter 3 Understand Yourself feature gave you the chance to self-assess your work locus of control. Higher scores on the measure reflect a more external locus of control. Managers tend to have a more internal locus of control. After completing the self-assessment, answer the following questions:
Do you think that your score accurately reflects your locus of control at work? Why or why not?
How do you think that work locus of control might influence your effectiveness as a manager?
What do you think is the ideal locus of control in a work setting and why?
What might you do in the next year to make your work locus of control consistent with your answer to number 3?
Before answering these questions, make sure to draw connections of individual behavior within the organization, including diversity, job satisfaction, personality, perception, motivation and reward systems, decision-making process, and emotional intelligence, and how they relate to your work locus of control.

This week, along with having a good understanding of the references needed, please do your best to work to remove casual language (great, key, really, like, look, huge, big, actually, jargon, or contractions. Do not begin sentences with the word it, but, or because. Do not write in third person, and avoid the use of you, your, and we. (We is acceptable only if you are describing you and a team’s output/results). I will not deduct points for casual language but this is something everyone should consider to move the paper from a personal communication to more of a formal tone.
