This paper aims to make a significant contribution to understanding the needs in specific disadvantaged areas and their transformation into Smart Villages.
The purpose of this paper is to review recent research into the international and national (if possible) interventions that contributed to transformation of disadvantaged (eg. isolated, low population density, low economic activity) areas into SMART VILLAGES, discriminating them in three subgroups: 1. Mountainous areas 2. Islands 3. Lowland Areas Special emphasis should be given into the smart context, the spatial and social characteristics, the climate-enviromental component and the lack of support for entrepreneurial actions.
We do not need an abstract, just the theretical part!
