After a few minutes the “client” and the other students can give the “counselor” feedback on how he or she handled the situation. In small groups explore what you think the criteria should be for determining whether a therapist is competent. Prepare a list of specific criteria, and share it with the rest of the class. Are you able as a class to identify some common criteria for determining competence? Is it easier to determine incompetence?
