Description Directions: Identify a Topic that you would like to cr******e a research project about. You may or may not need to carry out the project depending on the nature of it. You will need to identify a method for carrying out scientific research on that topic. Your work product: Your work product will be a project proposal, 8 pages in length. It will include a literature review, a methodology section, a hypothesis and null hypothesis, and survey or interview questions. You will need to describe your sample as part of your methodology and describe any stat******ical analysis that would need to be carried out. Project Topic: __What has been the impacts of China’s one child policy? _______________________________________ Methodology you will use: __________Interview___________________________________ ( Feedback from the teacher) What kinds of impacts are you looking for? For example, if you are talking about impacts on individuals, who would you interview? Are you talking about other kinds of impacts? You will need to look at the peer-reviewed literature on this policy and see what kind of research has been done so you know what other people have done. What kinds of interviews have they conducted? You can go ahead with this topic. 1) Research Methods: Draft Literature Review: You should review the chapter and powerpoint related to chapter 4 from the Halperin book to see what a literature review is. • Your literature reviews should be a minimum of 2 double spaced pages long. You should discuss at least 3 or 4 peer reviewed sources that relate to your topic. • Your lit review should be integrated; it should not just be one summary after another. It should show how the ideas from the different articles fit into your research. 2) Research Methods Project: Intermediate products These are Due April 15 • Hypotheses, in proper hypothesis format. • Null Hypothesis. • Draft Interview questions in appropriate format. • One paragraph justifying your choice of methodology (interview) • One paragraph explaining who you will give the interview to (I.e. explaining who your sample is). 3) Each student will develop a project that employs scientific methods to attempt to answer a political science question. Each project will have several components, depending upon the methodology the student chooses to employ. Project topics, and intermediate products, will be developed in consultation with the professor. It is expected that each project will allow the student to demonstrate a range of political science s******s. Length of the written project will be expected to be at least 8 pages and will utilize peer reviewed sources
