Assessment 1, 2 and 3 – Construction Case study portfolio Building Codes, Standards and Compliance In these assignments, you will document in your own words, the design and construction of a low-rise residential dwelling and its relationship to the BCA and associated standards. The case study building plan is provided specifically for your class this semester and is available from your teacher at the start of Session 2. It will not be available on Elearn. You will use the plan provided to determine the requirements from the BCA to design, problem solve and document the work to be done. The assignment is in three parts, which must be submitted by the due dates – see individual criteria below. The assessment construction is based on a two-storey residence. The required method of construction is strip footing, base brick, and slab on ground, brick veneer, sarked and tiled roof. Use the plan provided, the BCA, other relevant documentation and standards to determine the requirements (as listed in the Marking Criteria below) for each of the headings in Parts 1, 2 and 3. In your own words, write paragraph/s on each. You may use diagrams produced by yourself, either from other documentation or photos from site visits. Relate the information to the assignment and say how it is covering the relevant topic. You must not use sections, clauses, figures or diagrams from the BCA or Australian Standards as your answer. This information is be used to support the statements you have made. To support your assessment you are required to attend five site visits over the semester. During these visits, there will be an introductory class covering those aspects from the site relevant to your assignment, you will be collecting photographic evidence that can be used in your portfolio of work. During the site visit, you will also be participating in other assessment activities. Photographs in your assessment can be from either the site visits or your own sites. These need to have text included with the picture showing relevance to that part of the assignment they are referencing. The BCA and other Australian Standards is used to support your comments and the decisions you have made in your assessment. You must not copy and paste from the BCA or Australian Standards as your answer. All submissions will be uploaded into ELearn. If you require assistance in uploading assessments, please contact you teacher before the due date. You will submit each assissment sequentially to allow for teacher feedback and to provide depth of learning in the BCA assessments and processes.
