Describe the theories which attempt to explain the adoption and use of a particular technology. For example, Theory of Reason Actions, Theory of Planned Behavior, Diffusion of Innovation Theory, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM I, II, III), and The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT).
TAM, however, seems to be one of the most well cited theory in this regard. It attempts to provide a holistic understanding of factors influencing user adoption and acceptance of technology. Is this theory enough to explain user adoption of technology? Is this theory enough to explain user resistance to technology? Does this theory vary across cultures (e.g., Saudi vs USA, Japan, etc), voluntary or even non-voluntary adoption and use of IS? Support your discussion with examples of technologies, which TAM is used as a theory to explain the reasons for technology adoption and acceptance.
The purpose of this assignment is to promote students’ awareness of various theories, which explain adoption and acceptance of technologies, such as Enterprise Systems, Data Warehouse, Business Intelligent (BI), and etc. Students will also be able to recognize Critical Success Factors (CSF), which influence IT project during its implementation. Finally, students will be able to build up a solid understanding of how theories are more likely to facilitate digital transformations in Saudi Arabia.
