The purpose of the white paper is to inform themabout the ethical and legal issues related to privacy they need to understand to undertake theirduties in a professional manner, cognisant of both their legal and ethical responsibilities to theiremployers, their profession, and wider society.White papers are documents produced by groups/bodies that attempt to provide a definitiveoverview of a subject area for the audience concerned. A sample white paper will be madeavailable to give you an idea of how yours might look. You are free to target any subset within thatbroad computer science/information systems/data science community, (e.g. data scienceprofessionals, software engineers, health informatics professionals) however if you do so, youshould ensure the white paper is written clearly with the particular interests of that group in mind.The white paper should not merely rehash information from the lectures, it is important that you readwell on the topic and assemble the white paper for the audience it is aimed at. Think of the issuesyou feel that someone in your chosen sector/profession should know related to privacy, how itimpacts on how you should would go about designing and implementing new services. Alsoconsider all of the ethical approaches to privacy that are relevant and inform your readers aboutthem lucidly.Peer-review will be incorporated into the assignment, and a form will be circulated at the end of theproject to highlight any issues the group faced. Marks me adjusted up/down in light of groupfeedback on individual contributions. To that end, it is advisable to begin work on the groupproject as soon as possible. Do not leave the work until the last minute, as this is invariablywhere group projects can become problematic.The complete white paper should be around 5,000 words (+/- 10%).
