N4325 Nursing Research-qualitative methods and designs

In Module four we reviewed quantitative and qualitative methods and designs. Now we are going to critique sampling and data collection methods and tools used to obtain information that researchers are asking for from their participants.

Using the Quantitative Sampling Methods Reference Sheet (see attachment), and assigned readings, please answer the following questions below and discuss with your peers.

1. Please review the article ” Parents’ Use of Praise and Criticism in a Sample of Young Children Seeking Mental Health Services” (Appendix A) use only pages 333-334 in your Polit and Beck text. (see attachment)

● Discuss what sampling method was used.
● Discuss the data collection procedure and what tools were used to obtain the data.
● Define the terms reliability and validity.
● Do you think the data collection methods used in this study, yielded data that was reliable and valid?

2. Please review the article “Post traumatic Growth After Birth Trauma: I Was Broken. Now I Am Unbreakable” (Appendix B) use only pages 341-342 in your Polit and Beck text. (see attachment)
