LCCA Foundation FMP Groups: Various Date: Week commencing 13th Sept 2021 Content: Writing a FMP Proposal As discussed in our last session (and from the template attached on Canvas) You all need to complete a proposal for your FMP which is quite unique. I have already provided a student response but here I am going to set out my personal response to the FMP theme of equality. So below is my response, please read, digest and then attempt your own version and submit to me via email: [email protected] and I will check, add comment and formally approve as your lecturer. Section 1: During my studies I have completed various projects that have enabled me to explore my creative ideas around innovation and business. Upon review of these units I have found issues with my approach and knowledge to certain aspects of business, which I have worked hard on to address. I feel more confident now in writing a business plan. I also understand that my strengths lies in creativity and with that in mind I have now decided to explore the creative route for my FMP. My reasoning for this pathway is many, but primarily because I respond easier through drawing. My long-term ambitions also lies within the creative sector. It is my hope that once I complete my studies I transfer my skills over to setting up my own design studio. This pathway has informed my proposal because I intend to design a public bench, which is inclusive and covers the theme of equality. The final design will be put forward to my local council to address local resident seating needs. (words 170) Section 2: Within my local area there is a requirement for outdoor seating, particularly since Covid. The concept of my bench will be a design that considers the disabled, the homeless, the elderly, the young and all genders. A bench is used by everyone and is needed by everyone in society. In terms of research I intend to look at the work of other artists, designers and architects who have designed benches. I also intend to visit the design London exhibition this week to look at new designs in terms of outdoor seating and new materials. Once I have collected this information I will also question local residents to see what they would like to see in terms of outdoor seating in their area. I will also ask about problems with current seating installed. In terms of skills I am aiming to show a number of thumbnail sketches and ideas leading to a final idea that will be presented in a full set of technical drawings with a sketchup 3D model image. I intend to present my final work in a number of digital A3 boards completed using illustrator and photoshop. I will also present a sketchbook showing a number of drawing and painting techniques. For display purposes I will also present my test models (maquettes) and a final powerpoint which will document my research. I recognise during the course of my project my ideas or material requirements may change, which I will document fully providing reasoning for my decisions and actions. (words 250) Section 3: In order to complete this project on time I will make a time management plan, allowing three weeks for research, three weeks for design ideas and finally three weeks for final concept, model and write up. I intend to balance my time by referencing work completed in university, with that at home. Obviously events may occur in the project, that slow me down (like model making) so I will plan a few extra days to allow for this. I intend to complete my project one day before hand in to allow for any adjustments or printing. I also intend to ask a peer to check my work prior to assessment. (words 110) The above would be a satisfactory response to the FMP proposal. Please read this and draft your own proposal in the same manner as soon as possible this week please.
