Choose one of the three options below
Option 1: Write a reflection essay on the theories and concepts from the class materials. Pick up one to three theories and concepts in which you are mostly interested, elaborate on the main ideas and how these conceptual frameworks reveal the power structures, how they can help us understand our contemporary realities, and how we can imagine building a better society.

Option 2: Write an analytical essay on a social or political issue and discuss it from the theoretical perspectives leant in the class. Describe the issue you have selected, analyze it, identify possible controversies/debates, present your standpoint, and propose possible solutions.
Examples (You can go beyond these!): Sexual and/or racial division of labor. Media objectification and subjectification; Surrogacy; Prostitution; Sexual violence; public perception of capitalism and socialism; Global exploitation of labor; Social mobility; Muslim women and veiling, consumer culture and postfeminist cases, etc.
Option 3: Write a commentary essay on resistance, activism, social movements in the history or contemporary era. Introduce the collective rebellions and characterize the participants, agenda/aims, and achievements. Assess the activism and social movements from the critical theories we have learnt: To what extent the resistance and activism have challenged the inequality and injustice? In what ways? What are their limitations?
Examples (You can go beyond these!): Occupy Wall Street; Arab Spring; First and second waves of feminist movements; MeToo movement and social media activism; Black Lives Matter movement, etc.
