Visit Module #2/Week Two in CANVAS and download the PDF copy of Salvation by Hughes.
Spend a few minutes reading the story and making note of passages that exemplifies Hughes’ voice as a 12-year-old boy experience “Religious Salvation” for the first time.
Once you have made personal notes, respond to the following questions:
What is Hughes’ main purpose in this narrative? Why do you think this event was important in his life?
How does Hughes create the scene in the revival meeting? Which sensory details of sight and sound are particularly effective in helping the reader feel present at the church?
What does Hughes’ use of dialogue add to his story? Which people speak directly and how do their words help the reader understand Hughes’ emotional state?
**Go back and visit the slide #7 within the PowerPoint presentation dated September 9th within Module #2 in CANVAS. Use the three questions to begin reflecting on who you are as a person and what stories or events may have impacted your life thus far.
