In identifying the internal and external factors that can impact a company’s stock price, the first step is examining the internal health of the company much the same as you would trading a horse. First, get a clean bill of health from your veterinarian. As outlined in chapter 3, during an analysis of the company one should gather data from the financial reports, examine statements of cash flow, then examine the Return on Investment of Capital before beginning an in-depth look into the ratios to determine the health of the company (TextbookXXXXX). External influences can certainly affect the value of a company. McCormick (2021) stated about recent issues,
with infections related to the Delta variant continuing to climb and the Federal Reserve suggesting in its latest meeting minutes that officials believed the economy might recover enough by the end of the year to warrant a shift in their massive asset purchase
program. New weekly jobless claims fell more than expected to a fresh pandemic-era low, signaling a notable step forward in the labor market’s recovery.(pa 3)
These external influences over the past year-plus have driven the market up and down. Economic interest rates, natural disasters, military actions, and political changes can all affect stock prices. The different COVID bombshells and medical and political points of view have influenced many medical companies in a positive manner, but the travel industry and tourist attractions were hit hard. The lack of cash flow was detrimental and many companies could not survive. The company executives had to find ways to maintain a minimal amount of employees for the limited capability of people to congregate at businesses.
Many of the company leaders had to refocus the spotlight on their employees and the physical and mental health of the employees. Great leaders seem to be able to po=roperly influence their employees. As Preston Poore (2021) stated in a Podcast with Archie Dunham, we spend 90,000 hours of our lives at work. He described how he lost his focus on God and he became broken as a person and as a leader., and took 2 bad trigger moments to refocus his leadership skills. He further discussed that as Christain leaders we have to connect our Sunday and Monday. This will enable us to be more empathetic leaders and better leaders. The best point I personally liked was when Preston described in Corinthians 13, is the scripture about love that is commonly read during weddings. But these verses aren’t just about weddings, that it really about human interactions, and once we realize that, it changes us as people and leaders. He stated, “I love to live out my faith in the workplace”. (Preston Poore 30 June 2021 Christianity in Business Podcast). This podcast really made me think about how the leaders of companies, can also affect the value of a company by the quality of the employees that make the profits.
