One of the things you’ll notice I say in your syllabus is that this is a writing class. And that is very much true, especially in an online format. Your discussion posts can be as formal or informal as you’d like, just as long as they’re substantive. Your research missions aren’t graded on grammar, or how well you’re technically writing, but you still have to make enough sense for me to understand you. However, for all the rest ever written assignments, you must write in the formal voice overall, you’re always going to be graded on content, grammar and organization. Content relates to how strong is your research or argument? Did you accurately explain things? Are you answering the prompt? Are your sources valid and relatable to what you’re writing? Usually, people do their best with content. If you understand the assignment, they’ll understand how to write about it. The other two sections is a little bit thanks. Organization relates to how well you’ve organized your thoughts. Does your paper have a good flow? Do you cite your sources accurately? Did you reach the minimum page count? Is there a work cited page? Do you have proper formatting? A lot of times people miss out on organization points because they didn’t pay attention to font size, page count or didn’t use sources at all. There should be pretty easy category to get just as long as you meet all the minimum requirements. The biggest struggle people usually have is with grammar. Now I understand grammar is a class related and sometimes outdated concept. When I grade your papers for grammar, I’m not necessarily trying to nitpick over how you write your sentences or start your paragraphs with perfect transitions.

Well I’m looking for is that you take a formal tone, then you clean your paper have typos, that you ensure every sentence has a subject and a verb, and that there are no wrong sentences. And there is more than three commas in a sentence or sometimes no commas for multiple thoughts. That’s a problem. This could still be murky topic for students to understand.
