KPMG receives approximately 14,800 applications per year for their Graduate, Trainee and Internship programs. As part of the application process, candidates complete an online application form. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria then complete a gamified assessment that measures their soft skills and numerical acumen. They are then asked to complete an on demand digital interview. Candidates who are then identified as top talent by these two tools are invited to participate in an Assessment Centre that consists of a group activity and interview.
The AI in the gamified assessment has helped narrow down the large volumes in the candidate pool for the Assessment Centre however, there is no AI technology to assess the digital interviews. KPMG has an offshore team who manually review and assess the digital interviews. In 2021, KPMG’s offshore team reviewed and assessed 14,800 digital interviews. There is a significant amount of time spent on assessing the videos as well as the cost to employ people to assess them. Not only are time and money an issue, there is also room for unconscious bias when a human is reviewing the digital interviews which may result in the wrong candidates progressing to the final stages.
The average duration of filling a position from job advertisement to signing the contract is 120 days. By implementing the AI, the goal is to cut down on the time taken to employ the candidate.
Benefit 1: Shortening the time between starting the recruitment and making an offer to a suitable candidate means that the company remains competitive when it comes to attracting and securing the best talent off the market.
The video assessments are currently done by a team of individuals who may have unconscious bias towards certain candidates. This poses the risk of unfair dismissal of a candidate that could otherwise be successful. The selection process produces a diverse team
