Background
Provide a background to your client including the reasons they need to seek treatment for their condition (i.e., anxiety, depression, addiction, stress)
Determinants of Health
Use Dahlgren and Whiteheads model to identify 3 determinants to your client’s health (this means what could be the cause’ of their current issue). Research and state the link between the determinants of health and your client’s health issue. You should use a number of citations here, try not to rely on web pages. Examples: age, employment, education, family life, environment, poverty etc.
Psychological Treatment
Recommend ONE treatment suitable for your client (counselling, CBT, Support groups etc). This should be a treatment that would be recommended by a professional, not a self-management technique. You need to justify why this is the most appropriate treatment for this person with this specific issue (referenced). This section needs to have an evaluation, which means you need to discuss the positives and negatives of the treatment for the person. This section should be supported with evidence and citations.
Procedures to Test the Effectiveness of the Treatment
You now need to choose THREE approaches (methods) to testing the effectiveness of this treatment – meaning, how do we check to see if a treatment works or not? (example: how were the new vaccinations tested for coronavirus, to see if they cured or prevented the illness?) – what methods have been used to test the effectiveness of your psychological treatment.
Find three research papers which evaluate the effectiveness of your treatment (search for journal articles – do not forget the college’s systems too). Outline the methods and findings of the research and whether they found that the treatment worked or didn’t work and why. Remember you need three separate pieces of research here. Based on the three research papers you have found; you need to show whether the treatment did or did not work.
Finally, as part of this, you need to relate the research back to your client to say if this will be a factor for them or not – based on the research how likely is it to work to treat their problem??
