Children and youth in/from regions of conflict & post-conflict
Infographic assignment
Purpose: As CYCPs we serve people from different groups and different contexts. This assignment draws from the leadership emphasis in the Program Management course and requires you to create a 1–2-page infographic that will raise awareness among your team-mates about a particular conflict/post-conflict issue that we may not discuss in the short timeframe of this course.
You will need to use an intersectional approach to this assignment.
Possible formats:
Informational – more text, but the visuals help guide and interest the reader
Timeline – some text, but the focus is on helping the reader understand the chronology of a particular set of events/conflict/issue
You will need to include the following information:
Child/youth population
Geographic context
Identification of the child and youth care domain (School? Residential care? Foster care? Etc.)
Identification of at least one issue of conflict/post-conflict
(if doing timeline) – Important dates/events
Suggestions for doing this work with children and youth from a caring, strengths-based, and anti-oppressive approach
Minimum of 2 references using APA 7th edition (1 should be from an academic source; totally fine if taken from course or thesis research)
Some possible topics: (ONLY ONE GROUP PER SPECIFIC TOPIC)
Current issues around the world
Gang violence in Mexico
Intergenerational trauma
Anti-Black racism in schools, housing, health care, judicial system
Colonialism and imperialism
Working with children and families from Haiti
Homelessness among newcomer youth
COVID and anti-Asian racism
THE CONTENT WILL BE DIFFERENT. THIS IS JUST A VISUAL EXAMPLE!
