- Evaluate the importance of these acts in the area of special educational needs
- Focusing on the above, evaluate the benefits and challenges that both inclusion and integration present focusing on the school system. Give a definition for Inclusion and Integration and give at least 2 clear benefits and 2 challenges here
- Within the primary school system, detail and discuss 5 disabilities that would necessitate an assessment taking place within the school system. Each Disability is awarded 1 mark when discussed Comprehensive Research
- From the list you have discussed above focus on one disability, and describe giving detail-the difficulties that the child may have within the school system. 5 difficulties are required here as each one when discussed = 1 mark each.
- Before an assessment would take place, the teacher would begin an observation period. Using the special need already stated by you above
- Describe 2 types of observational methods that would be used within the school and the purpose of these observations. 1 mark for each method and why this method would be used
- Review the importance of observation prior to an assessment taking place. 5 points required
- Using the special needs, you have already chosen – evaluate the importance of an assessment taking place during their formative school years
- Outline the current assessment procedure for “your child” (unlike other elements here the marks are awarded for discussing the assessment procedure- each disability will have a different method) The Role of the Multi-disciplinary Team
- Discuss in detail 5 members of the multidisciplinary team who would be involved in the creation of the Individual Education Plan. Focus on their purpose and function within this process and their role when working with a child with special needs. 3 marks for each member of the team x 5 points
- Working with the Multi-Disciplinary Team the Individual Education Plan/Programme will be developed. Devise an IEP for “your chosen child” with a clear focus on the learning goals which are to be attained in the short term. Marks are given for having the correct outline and giving a minimum of 3 areas that will be worked on in the IEP
- Detailed Account of Assessment Procedures
- Focusing on one element of learning discussed in your IEP, create a Visual Timetable based on one of the child’s learning needs.
- Create a Learning Plan based on the above timetable- this may focus on any area of the curriculum. Note: the marks are given for the step-by-step guide on teaching this skill – The bullet point format here is suitable. Understanding of the Value of Current Assessment Procedures in Ireland
- Using the 5 disabilities discussed previously in your project evaluate the current Educational Provisions which are available for each of these five disabilities. 1 mark for the discussion of provisions for each disability
- You have previously outlined the current assessment process for “your child”. Clearly evaluate in detail: o The current benefits of this assessment process
- The drawbacks of this process
