Part 1: Planning is a very important step in the Writing Process. To get you started, please provide answers to the following questions:
Which text did you select and why? (Provide as much info as you can, such as the title of the text, the name of the author/artist/creator, the date created/published, etc.)
What is the rhetorical situation for this text? (purpose, intended audience, context)
Clearly state why/how this piece calls for action.
How will you approach this project as a “responsible researcher?”

What is the rhetorical situation for this text? (Purpose, intended audience, and context.) How do you know this? What was going on in the world at this time? What issues does the text respond to?
What is the central message in the text? What kind of ACTION does the author/artist/creator want from the audience?
Which rhetorical strategies and appeals does the author use to call the audience to ACTION? Are these strategies effective? Why or why not?
You could examine choices and “moves” such as:
arrangement/organization
diction (word choice)
tone
voice/style
description/imagery
rhetorical appeals (ethos, pathos, logos)
narration, POV (point-of-view)
evidence
audio features (sound)
visual features (formatting, design, use of color, images, video, etc.)
