Background
In this case study assessment, you are acting as an Information Technology Technician of ABZ.
Mody is the IT manager of “ABZ” an education institute. You have been hired as a System and network admin to design and upgrade computer lab systems.
Currently ABZ has computers running Windows platform only, hence, all the work is stored on the computer’s local drive. As part of the upgrade Mody requires multiple OS platforms that is controlled by an integrated Server platform and authenticates multiple OS before a client gain access to various services, as well as file sharing and appropriate security feature enabled in the Server.
NETWORK BASED MULTI-USER ON MULTIPLE PLATFORMS
TASK 1
Provide the manager with a low-cost system, for instance installing an application server and running terminal desktops using systems.
Arrange meeting with the client and key stakeholders to identify server integration requirements according to the organizational network requirements.Get signed off on Site Access form from the client to get access as required for the system and get approval with day and time (timeframe) for the upgrade so that it causes minimal disruption to the business operation.Determine required authentication methods and protocols according to organisational network requirements.Ensure these items (such as Workstations, Servers, Routers, Switches, Cables) are suitable for a networked environment including licensing of software and installation and use on a network. Document installation preparation details according to organisational network requirements
TASK 2
From a technical viewpoint you need to consider your design in:
Analyse network operating systems integration and authentication methods according to network authentication model and select one authentication model and provide reason foe selection.Research redundancy and replication requirements for required authentication modelDraw Network Design of integrated servers along with attributes like file sharing, login, and security
TASK 3
You are expected to demonstrate an ability to perform following key tasks:
Install and configure integrated server by implementing authentication solution according to server design specificationsImplement integrated file sharing solution according to the needs of server design.Configure workstation to get internet access on the virtual machine.Implement required integrated server environment security according to server design specificationsMonitor and test Server and document test results and evaluate performance of tested modules to make required changes.Analyze document error reports or test results and identify errors in the system.Troubleshoot server and network integration issues and test the changesInterpret their results to evaluate their performance and validate changes against specifications by troubleshooting them and interpreting their test results.
TASK 4
You are required to create appropriate documents and close the project by following tasks:
Document server configuration and its operational changes.Document client report, notification server status and restore the worksite to client’s satisfaction.Obtain sign off form from the appropriate person.
