Overview:
Remember that time and day are connected to one another. This may be a correlation
between the time and day when crimes occur which aids in crime analysis. Example:
Weekdays between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., houses are being broken in to and video games
are taken may tend to lead investigators towards kids getting out of school. This
assignment provides an opportunity to analyze data to show crime patterns.
Instructions:
• Using the crime reports and the crime data matrix you created, create a new
chart that determines the time of day and day of week that these crimes are
occurring.
o Chart should include the following columns at a minimum:
Incident or report number
Type of crime that occurred
Day of the month (date)
Day of the week – (For purposes of this assignment, use a current
calendar to identify the day of the week)
Time of day. (if a time range note in the comments column)
Comments
• If there is a time range (example: left house at 8:00 a.m. and
returned at 4:00 p.m.), note this in a comment column.
• Summarize any obvious similarities in the police reports based on these crimes.
Requirements:
• Word document
o Minimum three pages in length, excluding the Title and Reference page.
o APA format, including an in-text citation for referenced works.
o At least two resources.
