Choose a project case study, either one with publicly available information or one known to you through your workplace. Discuss how this project had challenges, or demonstrated best practice, concerning roles and responsibilities.

Assignment Task:

Component 1 –An individual, structured, written assignment. Each student is asked to deliver a report of up to 2,500 words. The document will take the form of a professional report that incorporates academic conventions such as referencing as well as contextualisation of a case study.

Choose a project case study, either one with publicly available information or one known to you through your workplace.

Discuss how this project had challenges, or demonstrated best practice, concerning roles and responsibilities. Why did this happen?

Relate how knowledge and information management were handled and the positive or negative impact they had on the project.

Some of the roles you may wish to focus on, although not all are necessary ;are:

  • The project team
  • The sponsor,
  • PMO Governance
  • The customer
  • Other stakeholders

By completing this assessment, you will have shown and be assessed on all

four (4) of the learning outcomes:

  1. Differentiate between the responsibilities of the project manager and the project sponsor throughout the project, as well as the structure, roles and responsibilities of the project team.
  2. Outline the role of knowledge and information management to inform decision making.
  3. Explain tools and techniques used to determine factors which influence and impact projects (including PESTLE, SWOT and VUCA).
  4. Graduate Attribute: Professional skills: demonstrate transferable skills that are essential to a career in PM, developing the core skills of complex problem- solving, critical thinking and analysis, as well as leadership and social influence.

All learning outcomes must be met to pass the module. You will be graded based on how well you meet these learning outcomes. Your marker will use a rubric/marking matrix to grade your work, and you can find this on the “My Assessment ”tab on the module iLearn page.
