Observation/Demonstration
Throughout this unit, you will be expected to show your competency of the elements through observations or demonstrations. Your instructor will have a list of demonstrations you must complete or tasks to be observed. The observations and demonstrations will be completed as well as the activities found in this workbook. An explanation of demonstrations and observations:
Demonstration is off-the-job A demonstration will require:
- Performing a skill or task that is asked of you;
- Undertaking a simulation exercise.
Observation is on-the-job The observation will usually require:
- Performing a work-based skill ortask;
- Interaction with colleagues and/or customers.
Your instructor will inform you of which one of the above they would like you to do. The demonstration/observation will cover one of the unit’s elements. The observation/demonstration will take place either in the workplace or the training environment, depending on the task to be undertaken and whether it is an observation or demonstration. Your instructor will ensure you are provided with the correct equipment and/or materials to complete the task. They will also inform you of how long you have to complete the task.

- Routing

- Networking security controls
- Virtual private network

Summary of Assessment Requirements
This assessment focuses on evaluating the student’s ability to demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and practical competency related to cloud computing standards, virtualization, and networking fundamentals. The assessment is conducted through a combination of observations and demonstrations to assess on-the-job and off-the-job skills, ensuring that learners can perform tasks in both simulated and real workplace environments.
The assessment requires students to:
- Participate in observations and demonstrations to showcase practical skills in cloud computing and networking.
- Answer a series of short theoretical questions covering:
- Cloud Computing Standards Development Organizations (SDOs): Identification and explanation of three key global SDOs and their purpose in ensuring standardization and interoperability.
- Definition and Types of Cloud Computing: Understanding of cloud computing and its three main service models IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
- Network Virtualization: Explanation of its importance and core principles in cloud environments.
- Networking Concepts: Application-based explanation of routing, routing targets, subnets, networking security controls, VPNs, and IP address ranges.
The objective of this assessment is to ensure students develop both conceptual clarity and technical proficiency in implementing and managing virtual network infrastructures in cloud environments.
