Your analysis should begin with a detailed overview of the airline. Most subjects covered during the course are applicable. All of the following aspects of the airline’s business model should be addressed (you may wish to review the Dimension of Competitive Scope, Page 81, Airline Operations and Management):
- A brief history
- Route architecture
- Fleet type(s) and size
- Product
- Cost structure
- Fare structure
- Distribution
- Promotion
- Target passenger segment(s)
- Competition
- Profit history
Next, explain how and why the airline has succeeded or failed, exploring questions such as: Is the business model sound or is it inherently flawed? Does the airline enjoy any competitive advantage? Has the airline successfully adapted to the changing environment? What are its future prospects (if any)?
