Going through the resources for Capella to help me be successful in Marriage and Family, is staying organized, someone like myself can be all over the place sometimes especially working in healthcare. I am always being pulled in many directions, so buying a planner will help me with assignments that are due. With the help of the writing center it will keep afloat for my papers. I do struggle a little when it comes to APA I am excited to strengthen my writing especially going into family and marriage I think it’s important to strengthen the areas I feel the weakest in. I am also excited to grow with my classmates as we’re all new to this class. Using the library is a great resource for writing my papers in the past I had success in utilizing the library and the good thing about the library is you’re able to schedule an appointment if you need help with your papers and writing.

What I anticipate to be the most challenging part for me is staying organized and citing sources. The challenge that comes from staying organized is remembering due dates and giving myself the right amount of time to complete assignments. I see that there is a writing center to help with citing sources and using references. Another reason to use this resources is to have someone read over my rough draft. I know my writing skills are a weak point and have always asked several people to read over a paper before submitting the final draft. The other major challenge I will be facing is remembering due dates and giving myself enough time to complete the assignments. I tend to procrastinate or get mixed up on due dates. I like Canvas as a system because it shows the due dates on the side and upcoming assignments. It is a useful tool for online education and it has definitely helped me in the past by keeping me updated on announcements from professors or changes in due dates. It does make it easier to reach out to peers or professors and build that social connection even with everything being online. Those are the challenges I currently see and I think with time, they will be easier to overcome.
I expect the greatest challenges during graduate study to be in the theory classes, navigating online, rather than the practical, hands-on experience courses. I believe the theory classes will be more challenging because I need to become comfortable with each instructor’s teaching methods and their differences in presenting lectures, course material, and providing helpful resources to be successful in the courses while navigating the online platform. After reviewing the resources that Capella offers, I believe that the writing center would be most beneficial because you have the support of the academic writing center to create an academic writing account that is very informative and has tools and techniques such as shared papers for you to review other peers’ papers, and they review yours, and other collaborating tools for you to be a successful writer. In addition, I think the Library would be most beneficial for me as well because of the peer-reviewed articles and journals that I can use a a form of researching methods to write academic papers.
One part of graduate study I anticipate being the most challenging is the academic writing, specifically writing in APA format and citing sources correctly. In everyday conversations, we often talk about research or ideas we’ve learned without thinking about citations, but in graduate-level writing, making sure sources are cited accurately is essential. Even though this isn’t my first time writing in APA, I know I’ll need to refresh my skills to make sure I’m doing it correctly and confidently. Because of that, I think Capella’s Writing Center will be one of the most valuable resources for me. Knowing there’s a place where I can get support with citations, formatting, and feedback on my writing gives me a lot of reassurance. I also really appreciate how each lesson is clearly connected to the COAMFTE Standards. Since becoming licensed is one of my main goals, seeing exactly how the coursework prepares us for that process is a huge benefit and helps me stay focused on the bigger picture.
After reviewing the resources that Capella offers, I think the most beneficial for me would be the academic writer to help me stay organized with my papers, and it will help me with writing my papers APA style. The reading list will also be beneficial for me when it comes to staying organized by weeks. I think the most challenging part the most challenging part of the program is time management. Another challenge for me is going to be the lack of live interaction. I am used to a campus-based school, so now doing an online program might be challenging for me.
