For this week’s reading, you will look at a book by Ernest Mandel called An Introduction to Marxist Economic Theory. This is a more contemporary explanation of the basic ideas of Karl Marx, which is easier to read than the original works, which were written in German in the 19th century.
For this week, you only need to read Chapter 1: The Theory of Value and Surplus Value. (pages 7-28).
