The Institute of Medicine’s Future of Nursing report identified four central recommendations to advance the nursing profession and health care: (1) Nurses function at their full extent of knowledge and education, (2) nurses become active at the decision-making table, (3) there must be seamless academic progression for nurses to advance within the educational system, and (4) adequate and reliable data are required to advance health care. Carefully and thoughtfully consider these four recommendations in light of the use of EBP. How can the nursing profession best address these four central recommendations related to EBP? How does implementing tools to grade/ score evidence provide strength and rationales for using the evidence in daily healthcare practice?
