Identify a local or state government (i.e. City of Fond du Lac, State of Wisconsin) and identify its total budget (i.e. $15 million). Then identify the different sources and totals of each revenue source (i.e. income tax, property tax, etc.) that the jurisdiction receives. Give your thoughts on the sources of revenue. Are they diverse enough, subject to swings based on the economy or other factors, fair to the residents of the jurisdiction, etc. Would you recommend a different balance of revenue and if so what would it be? Also, identify any debt that the jurisdiction has. What form is the debt in (bonds, etc.) and do you believe the debt is excessive for the size of the jurisdiction’s tax base?
