I’d like you to devote yourself this week to compiling field notes for your ethnographic essay through observing and interviewing.
Complete the following:
First of all, review the ten “Questions Ethnographers Ask,” on page 317, before visiting and observing and interviewing members of your group. Either through interview questions or your own observation or research, you should try to come up with answers to these questions.
Second, meet with your group and/or interview one or more members and take field notes about your interaction. Model your notes on those in our textbook by Rita Guerra on pages 319-320. Include “Observations of” and “Ideas about,” as she does. If you ask any of the “Questions Ethnographers Ask,” be sure to record the answers obtained.
Your journal should be at least 500 words long this week.
