Research Paper
In the research paper students will choose a topic of interest to them and approved by the professor. They will be expected to conduct research regarding their topic, describe the major issues associated with the study of their topic, and provide an overview of relevant information.
Students who write a research paper will be expected to utilize a minimum of five academic resources to support their research. NOTE: Web-based resources (except for materials found in the EBSCO On-line Databases) are not to be used.
The papers must be written in proper, formal English with documentation provided in the format of the Chicago Manual of Style. Proper documentation includes footnotes/endnotes and bibliography.
Among the possible topics for the research paper are:
- Death and the afterlife in ancient Israel
- The meaning of the image of God in Genesis 1
- Satan in the Old Testament – not the devil
- What is a covenant and why does it matter?
- Justice and righteousness in the Old Testament
- Shalom (peace) – what does it mean in the Old Testament?
- The meaning and significance of “blessing” in the Old Testament
- The religious significance of the land in the Old Testament
- God and the poor in the Old Testament
- Why are the widow, the orphan and the alien supposed to be objects of special concern in the Old Testament?
