Figure 2. Forest plot showing composite mortality outcome after surgery, according to author-defined anaemia. Sizes of markers indicate weight for each study according to sample size. A Mantel–Haenszel random-effects model was used for meta-analysis. Odds ratios are shown with 95 percent CI.

Subgroup Analysis

Figure 3. Forest plot showing composite mortality outcome after surgery, according to author-defined anaemia and surgical subgroup(Cardiac surgery versus Non-cardiac surgery). Sizes of markers indicate weight for each study according to sample size. A Mantel–Haenszel random-effects model was used for meta-analysis. Odds ratios are shown with 95 percent CI.

Figure 4.

This figure is same as Figure 3, however, in this figure the main outlier was removed(Phan 2017).Need explanation in the discussion on why the study(Phan 2017) was removed, effect it has on results after removing. The figure will be not included on the final report

Sensitivity analysis according to WHO definition

Figure 5. Forest plot showing composite mortality outcome after surgery, where anaemia was defined according to the World Health Organization definition (less than 13 g/dl for male patients and less than 12 g/dl for female patients). Sizes of markers indicate weight for each study according to sample size. A Mantel–Haenszel random-effects model was used for meta-analysis. Odds ratios are shown with 95 percent CI.
